MSA intake help
MSA intake help
I just bought an MSA cold air intake. I've been trying to install it for hours, but it just won't fit. It is so aggravating. Does any modification need to be done for it to fit? Or, should I just send it back to MSA, and make my own?
I had to modify the metal tab to bolt onto the radiator support. I think it was too long. That's pretty stupid that they charge so much for a small piece of powdercoated metal and it isn't even made to fit perfectly.
yeah I went to Home Depot and got some 3" aluminum tubing that swivels to make a 90 degree bend. when u put on the cone filter it will probably make the tubing swivel down since the contact on the swivel isn't strong. so what I did was to fill in the groove where it would swivel too much with some titanium epoxy so that it would sit straight out in front of the radiator. worked well. doesnt look good but works.
Melting??
The problem with the bendable tubing as the texture on the inside does allow for smooth airflow. What's the point of honing the intake and throttle body if the intake pipe is not smooth? I've had the painted PVC on mine for about 2 years and had no trouble with melting. If you do it and it melts, you've got other problems to deal with.

Your K&N filter element will melt before PVC plastic does! Its not that hot up there... just don't go and make yourself some headers from PVC water pipe!
PVC or PCV(?) pipe is very strong stuff. Someone actually used it for a turbo engine to run to and front the intercooler. No melting or breaking yet.
