The most boreing L28.

Does anyone know what the maximum displacement is for the L28 block? If so, how much would the cylinders be bored over to achieve this?

I have seen 3.2L stroker motors I think the bore something like 1mm {not sure though} and they get a crank out os a maxima diesel engine.

3mm overbore is said to be the largest safe bore on the L28 block. Add a stroked crank (with a lot of other machine work and mods to make it fit) and you're at about 3156cc or something. Barely able to round up and call it a 3.2L
More commonly called a 3.1L

Not worth the money at all.. MSA has one to.

Fast240Z May 9, 2005 08:41 AM

some guy on ebay is selling a stroker setup for 30 bucks.

Dorifto May 9, 2005 10:55 AM

Ask lww about this ... he's running a 3.1 in his ZXT, if I remember correctly. It's the one in the body shop right now.

3.2L is equal to 3156cc why are cc counts not quite that of the L? because even though they tell you 1 cc= 1 mL ...... it is actually .98625 cc = 1 mL... yes theyre both metric but they are very slightly off... i know the numbers seem frivolous but if you get into the whole spectrum of the physics realm of cars.. sometimes even the most minute amounts in certain equations can throw off a lot...

just thought i should clarify that

jfairladyz May 9, 2005 04:57 PM

Yeah but engine displacement isn't exactly an important detail. It's those fractions of inches and millimeters that need to be so specific. a thousandth of an inch can throw a main bore out of wack.

assimilated420 May 9, 2005 07:35 PM

well thats what i was referring to.. the physics aspects of the crank and bore and all those micro-measurements that keep the engine well balanced in its entirety

Dorifto May 9, 2005 10:11 PM

I say as long as mine is within spec ... I won't complain haha.

Still want that MSA 3.1 stroker kit ... or an RB25. :D

lww May 9, 2005 11:22 PM

Rebello Racing will do a 3.2L motor, but you'll go through at least a half dozen blocks before you'll find one that will sonic test good enough to go to 3.2L.

Check out: http://www.rebelloracing.com/eng_info.htm

3.1L is much more practical and you won't loose much in performance with one tenth less of a liter except a lot more blocks that will be useable. And that can easily be fixed with boost...

You can get the same 3.1L kit from Courtesy Nissan for $1270:

Guess who MSA buys their 3.1L kits from? And they resell them for $1800!!

Dorifto May 10, 2005 06:28 PM

lww, you are a god. Now a stroker is definitely still in the long-term budget!

I'm just looking for an N42 head to get started......

juggalo280ZX May 11, 2005 07:06 AM

excuse my ignorance, but what is a N42 head?
