More or less backpressure?

on my 82 zx turbo, would I want more backpressure or less backpressure? Which creates the most power, which is most reliable?

I ask which is more reliable because on my truck, i removed the cat and got glasspacks on it and it didn't have enough backpressure and burnt a valve. which made less backpressure less reliable

yup you want that exhasut coming off the turbo to flow away from it as soon as it can...but dont go too far as to size of the exhaust as it will create more turbulance and more or less "hover" in your pipe rather then smoothly exit...
