this might sound crazy

So, i've been trying to read up on everything i could Z related and i fgound a great article http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/ which im sure almost everyone else has read before. I got to the part about head design and it got me wondering and searching the vast endless ocean of google to see if...there is a better head for the L28. I am referring to the problem in the article about the design of the head having the intake and exhaust on the same side and the spark plug on the other side. the article says that modern head design has an intake side, an exhaust side and the spark int he middle, which is correct, they do, ours doesn't. So i looked..A LOT, but came up empty handed on finding a modern head for an L28. Aside from building my own, is there no solution?

DISCLAIMER...im not too worried about not finding a modern head for the L28, i was just wondering if anyone had come across one. Don't worry about engine swaps(except rb26dett)..thats not gonna happen, I'd rather work with what i got, and yes, a turbo is in the future...the very distant future.

Wow, just gone done reading the entire thread..OK..those hybrid guys are nuts! Sadly, i had a stanza with the ka24de that i could have used to start fabbing up my own head. Realistically, ill just work with what i've got sitting in the driveway and when that engine is finally dead ill throw something crazy..probably a rotary in there..but until then..L28-4-ever!

Burt Munroe. Personal hero!

My roomate has just about finished designing his GM 60 degree V6 Hemi-heads. Already looking up places for casting. . .

As bored as he gets, I wonder if he would want to design something for the L series engines?

I am going to bug him about it now...

That would be a fun project.

lemme know if it happens, see if he can figure it out to work like the hybrid z does with the ka24 heads in a dual configuration..i was doing some of the math last night and i got a bit dizzy..thats why im an anthropologist, so i can avoid math.

He just got finished with advanced Calc. Beyond me. But, I am wanting to learn the higher math.

He is doing some pretty cool stuff with his Cad type programs.

I am thinking a DOHC with shims and buckets utilizing another vehicles shims and buckets would be cool.

It's really simple too. You should do it.

I will wait till I get a head for my room mate. He needs the original to take measurements off of. Doesn't sounds crazy enthusiastic though. But, if I can get him to own a Z, I know he would be.
