no, the 81 turbo ECU is not compatible with the 82/83 turbo motors. But the 82 and 83 are interchangeable.

and i have a good ignition switch but I'll have to see if I can find the key. It's out in my shed somewhere. If I find the key I'll let you know. The switch is perfect and practically brand new.

Having a digital dash doesn't make a difference.

the only real difference on the digital cars is the gauges wiring harness. My car was a digital dash, but I converted to analog. All's I had to swap was the dash harness. Of course I'm regretting this all now that I'm sitting here with a bunch of broken gauges thanks to a certain 3 year old

nismo619, I'll pm you about the ignition switch as soon as I find the key. I'm going to clean out my shed tomorrow and the key is in there somewhere (I hope).

Up date i got home from work today at 3:30 pm first thing i did was get into my work clothes and started work ASAP on the new Z car.. well hears the list of what i did so far, Bleed the entire brake system inspected the brake calipers and pads, gressed up the caliper pins, e brake cable was stuck so i took of the two wires to the rear calipers for now until i unfreeze the line, bleed the front brakes and did the same work to the front as i did to the back i put on my spare 280zx turbo rear light panel i have .. took off the one it came with stock 280zx no turbo light emblem on it wires it up to work. changed out all the black fuses in the main fuse box by the right head light there was 2 missing ? lol i put in my spare 280zxt fuel rail i had siting ... why i did this is becuase when i inspected the fuel injectors two of them were green top fuel injectors.. OUCH,,, ... so i changed out hte fuel rail with some good used real turbo fuel injectors its 1:20 am i just got inside from taking off the ignition switch thank god it has had a new one before it just had 2 screws in it.. i do belive im ready for a new igniton switch. any tips ? any helpfull hintz ?
oh yea i also droped the fuel tank cleaned it out and reinstalled it tonight too... so 3:30

3:30 to 5:30 did the brake system
5:45 to 7:15 did the fuel rail , injectors etc
7:35 to 1:15am worked on the fuses ,checked out the wireing ,drop and clean and reintstall the fuel tank , took off the ignition switch , also hookd up the rear 280zx turbo panel... so a total of 9 hours plus i worked on this car today.. i cant wait until i can drive it.. tomorow i will be taking pictures etc..

The reason the plugs are covered in fuel is because the ignition isn't firing so the fuel isn't burning. Nothing to be alarmed about (well other then the fact that there is no spark )

I found the ignition switch Nismo...Still looking for the key. The shed is almost all cleaned out except for my workbench (which is where I suspect the key is). So I'll let you know for sure by tomorrow.

behind the glove box you have the accessory relay, the ignition relay, and the fuel pump relay. The green one is the fuel pump relay.

mabe it the plugs or the cap. hey jayfair what if a certain 3 year old took the key for there little toy car, are you going to take it away? I mean gosh with no car key hows the poor thing going to get around town? Sugesting swap with another key, like your wife's car key, or girlfriend which ever she is lol.
she may be going nowere, but hey the 3 year old can be the d.d.

You said you're positive that you're getting spark to the ignition coil? Also pull off your cap and check your rotor for build up on the contacts.

try cap and rotor 619, and if j cant find his key, i may have a 82 switch with key in good shape, ill find it, im in the same predicament j is in, i gotta find it. i think from experiance, that when storing the iggy switch, one should tape the key into its place so one may loose it. so now i gotta find all the keys to all my switches!!!
