Just Bought 82 zx and need a little help

I just bought a 1982 280zx na 5spd 2+2. This is the 3rd 280zx that I have owned. I have also had 7 or 8 300zx s ranging from a 1984 to 1990.

Anyway, the guy i bought it from said that it ran great until the other day when he tried to crank it and would not fire. He replaced the plugs and wires and I believe that he put a new dist cap on it. Still it turns over but will not fire.

The injector on the #1 cylinder is leaking out of the rubber hose above the injector.

Last night I noticed that the guy had the firing order all screwed up. I corrected it and it still would not fire. But it did sound a little different. I could hear it backfiring a little out of the air intake.

I don't think that it is anything major but I have been away from these things for about 10 years. (I hate to say but I have been messing with hondas dsm s but I have gone back to my roots)

Any help is appreciated.

thanks

Are You Getting Any Fuel To The Injectors??? It Could Be That Instead Of Spark... Ask Nismo Or Bleach They Seem To Know Everything There Is To Know About These Sweet Cars

The fuel is getting there. maybe the injector is clogged or bad?
thanks i'll ask those guys.

Have you verified spark? The IM and it's connector in particular are pretty touchy. Spark is by far the easiest thing to check for so check that first. If you've got spark, and the firing order is correct then that leaves you with a fuel issue. But check for spark first.

try your timing of the dizzy, if its firing out the intake try advancing that a bit. or it could be the afm.
