Welcome to ZDriver! :006:
When did this problem start? Did you recently do any work on the car? The more info you give us, the easier it is to help you. :D -Check the timing -Check for vacuum leaks -Check for any disconnected sensors |
i had that and it was my timing. but its good to check the rest while your there
sticky throttle linkage.
IDK I Got The car Like This I Checked My Timing But It Was Fine Throttle Linkage Is Fine Too But My Car Is Running A Little Rich And Failed Smog....Could This Be Causing This?????
Check all your sensor connectors, and make sure they are clean, and have good contact. Also if that doesn't help, check your injectors, and make sure they are all working correctly. That should give you a start, good luck man.

you can also clean the green off with baking soda. make a paste and it will fizz. the wash it off with water when the fizzing stops. no bush required. it will also take corrosion off where the brush cannot reach, even up the wire sheathing. running rich can be the afm, too high fuel pressure, bad plugs, temp sensor, cold start valve stuck on and o2 sensor
The linkage may be OK but the actual butter fly valve inside the throttle body might be sticky as well.
Ok And If It Is The Cold Start Valve Could I Just Eliminate It Or Does The Car Really Need IT????
Before you go removing things you shouldn't... did you heed the previously stated advice of checking for vacuum leaks and loose/corroded sensor connections?
I Cleaned My Connectors Checked For Leaks No Leaks and I Checked My FPR And It Was Leaking Through The Diaphram So I Changed Now It Rinning Better But Still Hanging And Running Rich I Also swapped My Afm from My other Z and It Ran The Same
Check the injector pig tails. Also the IAC might be sticking.
Also seen this problem being related to a faulty power steering pressure switch or A/C pressure switch. Which bumps the idle up when engaged to keep the motor from bogging down. |
I Never Thought about The Power Steering Thing It has been Acting Up On Me Tho I Makes A Tiking Sound Sounds Like A Rod Knock And When I Took The Belt Of It Stopped... Now The Idle Doesn't Hang As Much Now It does It Sometimes And Sometimes It Doesent :/
um... I'm pretty sure the 280zx doesn't have a "power steering switch".
You are right, it does not have a ps switch, but has a/c and oil pressure. Though after thinking about this it seems more like a throttle body problem. Try cleaning it, if that doesn't work I would try adjusting the tps and or iat to see if it makes a difference.
Ill Try Cleaning It Out Anyways I Have Nothing To Lose...
