Hey all. Hope is revived! I found out what this little bolt with a wire was. It's a thermo time switch. I'm ordering one from napa today. Can anyone tell me exactly what it does? Thanx and peace.

If It Has One Green Wire From It, It Is For The Coolant Guage And It Also Helps The Computer Figure Out Engine Temp.

Actually the yellow wire feeds the signal to the guage. The thermotime switch controls the cold start valve. Problem is the turbos didn't have a cold start valve, so they shouldn't have a thermotime switch. I only say this cause the word "turbo" was used in the title of the thread. So if it's not a turbo then the above about the cold start valve applies. The signal that feeds the ecu the eng temp comes from the cylinder head temp senor which uses two wires. I dont know their colors but it uses the same connector as the fuel injectors. The other thermal sensor is the temperature switch that sends the signal to control the aux. cooling fan. So what color is the wire/wires.

(of course Canadian models could've been different and the above only applies to 81+ because you mentioned turbo.) I'm not sure on wiring colors on pre 81 models.
