electrical...probs with gauges

today i was driving down the freeway and my warning display (the small screen display that sits between the tach and speedometer) went out and wont turn back on. :doh: Plus the seatbelt,fuel,door,and brake warning lamps all turn on when i turn the car on and wont turn off..would this be the fuses and relays??help, thnxs

How is your alternator and battery? Its probably not a fuse, but it could be a problem with a battery connection. Try cleaning the battery cable contacts and the alt wires.

Yea, i disconnected the battery and alternator, and the relays were dirty with grease and dirt i cleaned all that but its still doing that same thing :rofl: , thnxs tho

I think those lights come on and the check display goes off when your gauge panel reads the alternator voltage output at 0: like when your car is off or the engine shuts off. Sometimes if my idle is low and the engine stumbles, or I just about kill the engine as I'm taking off, those lights will flicker on but go off again if the rpms pick up.

If the alternator, battery, and fuses are all good and have good connections then it'll be hard to figure out what is wrong. It could be a bad relay in the relay box though. Those things do strange stuff when they go out.
