electrical problems
Hello,
I picked up my new 280zx today. And when I was driving the first few km, I noticed the V-meter was pointing out 12V (which I know is rather low but could have been the meter) Then I was about 50km on the way and the V-meter was pointing out 10V.. So i started worrying and I kept looking at the V-meter regularly. And it kept steady at 10V but then again about 50km later the car starts sputtering, and the guy with me told it was backfiring too he liked it until we had to stop because the car stopped running.
(Done some research and now I think it's the break lights that give a short or something as this is something I have seen in a few threads)
Today I tried using jump cables... just disconnecting the battery in the Datsun and connecting the + and - wired to the jump cables. Started the other car. (gave a good 14V) Then i tried starting the Datsun and.. nothing it just clicked, the meters went dead and it didn't do anything anymore. I disconected the start cables.
Then I put the wiring back as it was. Datsun wires on the battery in the Datsun and I turned the key. It tried to start. But as the battery only had 9V it didn't.
Also, if I measure the resistance between the + and - wire (no battery attached) I measure a few k-ohm.. is this normal?
Why did the jump cables not work?
