doing compression test

hey fellas
does any one have the psi that a turbo engine should have in the cylinder?

my brother just bought a turbo engine and our mech keeps tellin hime that each cylinder needs to have at least 120.

is that right?
thanks

Between 120 and 150 , I beleive. But more importantly is that there should NOT be much more than a 10% difference between all the cylinders compression psi's. One exceptionally low cylinder psi would usually indicate a problem such as: rings , bent valve , bhg , abnormal cylinder wall wear , warped/melted piston , any # of things.

hey thanks!

this info is just what i needed.

the mech actually told him it should be around 170!

i know that's for an n/a engine on a 280zx..not the turbo.

again, thanks.
