Z Car Parts.com -- Motorsport Auto -- Home. They have a cold air kit for the 280zx. You can easily make one yourself by buying a mandrel bent 90 degree tube and a K&N filter. There's no one who makes a dual exhaust, unless you meant a dual tip exhaust. HKS used to, but that system is rare and hard to find now. Otherwise, just use the one that's available from the mentioned website. It's a direct bolt on kit and doesn't cost much.

so you cant run duals off the headers??? PACESETTER 1970-1976 DATSUN Nissan 240Z 260Z 280Z Exhaust Headers 70-1037 | eBay like these you can just drop the y and run duals?

hoov100 05-21-2012 03:58 AM

Why would you want to run dual exhaust on a L6? All you would be doing is adding weight and money for no reason.

Kerias 05-21-2012 05:11 AM

your dropping out cast iron and putting in steel pipe much lighter probably about the same with the amount of steel as for money i dont see that its wasted there is still back pressure on the cylinders it may not be as "much" power but your still going to gain some but mainly 3 cylinders open pipe headers sound ****ing wicked, unique and badass.... this also depends on the compression ratio your running too.

You're gonna get better peformance with a single exhaust.....

I think he is talking about a divorced header? :102:

Even with a divorced header you probably won't get the same draw with the pulses. The only time I could see using a dual exhaust on an L28 would be on a twin turbo setup.

Kerias 05-21-2012 08:43 PM

what about a h pipe set up? it would suffice the need for the pulses to be connected and give you that nasty rumble?

NismoPick 05-21-2012 09:38 PM

I gather from this thread that the Japanese L28 is the same thing as American V8's... :022:

evandubya 05-21-2012 09:39 PM

Where are you going to run the second pipe? I'd be afraid to have it one the passenger side by the filler hose. 2 out the same side looks weird IMO.

NismoPick 05-21-2012 09:45 PM

They made "Twice Pipes" for the S30. Snw installed a set on his grey S30 (pics if you search his thread).

It was a retro - 70's thing... not really meant for the S130 body style.

in actuality im planning on running side pipes it flows with the body really well i was just wondering if it was possible to actually run duals or if i was stuck y'ing it off... im a custom fabricator so i dick with ideas all the time... i tend to lean to uniqueness when i come up with ideas

^^^ Anything is possible with the right amount of time, money, and skills. :D

It's your car, so do what YOU want to it. The common use of "dual exhaust" is for V engines that have two banks. Since the I6 engine just has one bank, there's not much reason for dual exhaust (especially at the tail pipe).

With that header, fab up a Y, and run 2.5" back.

just dont get the msa muffler. huge disappointment. it is the angry bees in a can sound that i hate so much.

Kerias 05-22-2012 10:15 PM

my exhaust plans: run a decent set of headers preferably a deep throaty kind into a cat (inspection) then into a super 44 (1 in 2 out) and run side pipes should like a twisted bitch with anger issues!! and suggestions on headers? would extending them give a more throaty sound? would to stock cat work or will it dampen the noise too much?

FricFrac 05-22-2012 10:34 PM

I posted my exhaust youtube link on the main forum. It's plenty throaty....
