Help!! Car wont go over 2,000 rpm!!

If you are having problems with your ZX not going over whatever rpm and one of the things you have done to the car is wash, cleaned-up with a liquid, drove it through a BIG puddle, or de-greased the engine then there is a good chance that one or more of your sensor connections has fluid of some sort in them. These connections crack, come loose, or just rot over time and allow moisture to enter them. The most common sensor to get fluid in it is the T.P.S. after a wash. I had this very same problem so I solved and fixed it with the help of ZDriver.com.

If you are going to wash your engine then you need to take some steps to prevent it from not running right after the wash.

First, have a can of compressed air, used to clean computers with.
Have a handfull of balloons.
Make sure you have all the cleaning supplys ready to go.

Now, with a cool engine you are ready to clean it:
Check all of your connections for cracks in the plastic parts and the rubber boots if they are still there. Even if they don't looked damaged they may still be. Disconnect them and cover them with the balloons, both the sensor connections and wire connections. While you have the connections apart you might as well clean them too before you balloon them as they are probably corroded. Once everything is covered proceed to clean the engine with whatever metod works for you. Try not to directly spray the Dizzy, wash by hand if you can. Allow the engine to dry. Once it is dry remove all the ballons, use the can of compressed air to further dry the sensors, connections and Dizzy, to be safe. Re-connect everything and drive the car. You should not have problems at this point from wet sensors.

The arrows show the common parts of the connections that rot or crack, I replaced my rubber boot and it works well. This is the T.P.S.

I would make the title HELP! Car wont go over 2000 rpm!! then. It would get more attention as a tech problem, rather than "why doesn't my car rev to 9000rpm?"

Just a thought.
