Boost Gauge Reading
I just replaced all the vacuum lines on my Z. I started her up and the boost gauge is kicking all the way past 7 and staying there at idle. Any ideas on a possible problem? Any help is appreciated.

Vac line hooked up wrong... crappy / broken boost gauge...

Thanks for the response. I have another question. Does the 83 turbo have hydrolic lifters or non-hydrolic?
|
Check the head casting... it should say P90, or P90A right by sparkplug#1. Most P90A's are hydraulic.
|
Just checked and it's a P90 A, so I will assume hydrolic. I seem to have a slight tick when I first start it up over #6 cylinder. I might have a weak lifter.
On another note is there a way to check the boost sensor to see if it's still good? Oh, and thanks for the help so far. |
figured out the boost issue. it was plugged in to the wrong connector. And also pulled the valve cover and checked. Looks like I might have a weak lifter. I'll just run a heavier weight oil for now. Thanks for your help Nismopick.

Found some info on disassembly and cleaning of the hydraulic lifters. Followed the instructions and now no ticking, purrs like a kitten.

where'd you find this info? I'd like to know as I have a P90A or is it in the Haynes guide?
|
duowing the info is on another forum, but here is the link It really helped me out.
On a side note, has anyone had any experience with running some engine flush through the system prior to oil change? I was thinking of doing this, but was concerned with damaging the engine. |
