Blow off valve question

When i did my turbo swap i put in an 83 turbo motor that came out of an automatic zxt.Since then i have been reading a couple of posts stating that the automatic didn't need a blow off valve but, rather had the pop off valve.

I am running a 5 speed with my swap and just need to know if i do in fact need the blow off valve.Sorry if this sounds stupid.I am just confused.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The pop-off valve functions as an emergency release valve, if pressure gets too high in the manifold it will open and release the pressure. Similar in theory to a blow off valve, but it only opens around 9psi I believe. So really this isn't going to help you like a blow-off valve will. So yes you will need a blow off valve.
