Bad Injectors???

I have a 1979 280ZX that has been sitting for 10 years or so. I got it running but it is only running on cyclinders 1, 3 & 5. The other three are dead. Could the injectors be bad or just really badly varnished? I put on a new tank, cleaned the lines before starting, but still have this current issue going on. Starts well, just hit the key and it fires right off.

Thanks for any suggestions.

or maybe three dead spark plugs? Those go bad before an injector will. Could be both. Spark plugs are so cheap that you should replace all six and get new wires. NGK wires are cheap and good quality.

Thanks I replaced the plugs but not the wires. Will try that also.

Check the connectors to the injectors too. They become brittle, crack and get buildup on the contacts that will make the injectors not fire correctly. (for me the buildup is this green gunk) A test you can do to see if your injectors are firing is take a long screw driver and place the tip to the injector and listen for a constant tapping sound. Do it to each injector and if any of them sound a little off or slow, then it might be dead.

running on half cylinders

do a ohm test on the spark plug wires the lower the ohms the better, high ohms = no good

Something else you might want to consider is the distributor. I have no experience with this particular dizzy but it seems odd that all odd (no pun intended) cylinders are firing yet the even ones aren't. of course the wire set up is odd-even-odd-even-odd-even. Since 74-75 they are a dual point distributor, which uses a secondary point mounting plate. maybe check the points and rotor for telltale wear or lack therof. that could be your problem.
