83 280zx turbo spiratic stall problem
 

My name is Tim and i'm new here. I have a problem that's been coming and going for a year. My car will start and run fine for days and weeks but then suddenly I will turn it off to go in somewhere and come out to leave and start the car put in gear and it dies and has to sit for 15 minutes up to a few hours before it will start again. I replaced the fuel pump after reading some of the threads that it can run for a while and quit. I replaced both filters and all plugs and installed a new battery and terminals last month and it ran fine for a month
then one day it did it again. The problem is I can't test it since I never know when it's going to happen. I have been told it's the distributor or ecu getting hot and shutting off but that seems strange for such large time spans in between. I was wondering if something could be loose or grounding out. any info would be appreciated.
