'82 280ZX no sparking

Hopefully we have overlooked something basic here. I have an 82 280ZX engine in a '91 Mustang (don't ask...) It has dual carbs so the only thing I need it to do is create spark to the cylinders. The coil we have is from a 78 280Z that was working just fine until the previous engine overheated and we discovered just how long it would run with water lubricating the cylinders. Anyway, I have 12v and the B wire from the dizzy module going to the + side of the coil, and the C wire from the dizzy module. I put on a new cap and rotor but there is no spark from the coil wire or (obviously) the plug wires.

Is this the proper setup? Is the distributor module dead? Is there a way to test it? Any help would be welcome.

Are you running a stock distributor? Have you checked the stator?

And you should post some pics of this thing!

Stock distributor. I will check the stator. Just a visual check or is there some electrical way to test it? I guess my main question is, should this setup work without all the f/I stuff?

Here is the car in action....

I removed the stator and the magnet is broken around one of the bolt holes and there appears to be a small crack, but it's all there. Time for a new one?

Here is the distributor mounted on the engine:

This is the whole thing:
