I recently inhereted a 1976 Fuel Injected 280Z. It has the 2.8 engine, and fuel injection. I was told that the fuel pump was bad on it, and it needed replaced. I think the original fuel pump was fine, but the power/fi relay was shot. So, I put a new relay on the car, and this is what I get. Fuel pump runs only when key is in start position. Car will start, but will never leave idle. I am pretty sure it is running exclusively off the cold start fuel only. I bought both the Chiltons and the Haynes, and unfortunately, they only address the fuel injection as a supplement. I can unplug the FI control unit, and the car runs exactly the same. I am really starting to get frustrated with this thing. I know I have an electronic problem, but I can't figure out which component(s). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
