im getting a turbo l28 engine and was wondering how strong these engines are how much boost an hp can i run threw this engine without changing the internals and what 1/4 times will i be looking at

I am under the impression that the stock turbo and engine can produce 250hp, with a rising-rate FPR and intercooler as the only mods. Don't quote me on that, it's just what I understood.

i could see that as far as without raising boost.. but if you increase boost you can push somewhat higher.. bone stock without intercooler ive heard up to 15 psi boost.. but thats risky without an intercooler.. otherwise they can handle whatever you throw at them practically unless you have serious internal problems such as wear and leaks

but if you want serious numbers you need to start upgrading your cam and ignition system... along with a racing fuel pump and upgraded fuel management system.. if you want a few horses here and there you can take off the A/C and Power Steering but thats minimal.. look into better exhaust/turbo/intake/throttle body.. weight reductions are alwayz helpful

I think he might understand about fuel and intercooling.
so, with the right turbo, right intercooler, injectors, ect. You can run about 18-22psi into the stock internals of the L28

People have been known to run 300 to 350 WHEEL horsepower with this kind of psi on a T3/T04 Hybrid turbo. (on a dyno, not a guess) The factory turbo runs out of breath at 12psi. After that if you're running more boost, its not very efficent and is just killing the turbo.
Usually they say no more than 300hp on stock internals though. I'm going for 240-260, but trying to run the factory turbo.

Yeah, there are alot of people on hybrid pushing 20-22 PSI on stock internals.

I read somewhere that a stock turbo 280zx does around a 15.7 second 1/4 mile time
