strut bars
has anyone here made custom strut bars?
im thinking about doing this, and im wanting some input from others. |
Lots of people have. I purchased a strut bar that looked like it was made in a shop. The welds are clean but very visable and the materials only so-so.... and it was expensive. about $200.
Late model cars have fancy chromed strut bars for under $50 sometimes! Anyway, I'd say try to make a triangular strut tower bar for the front and back. Here's a picture of mine. It is suggested that you get tighter than stock springs first. I didn't but I didn't know any better. It still helps keep things more solid on the freeway. |
does your strut bar connect to the car at the hood latch also or just at the towers?
|
It does connect at the firewall. There are two brackets that go right over the mounts for the hood latch. I put new stainless bolts in there to secure both the strut brace and the latch.

im using the bottom sway bar to customise one for the top
