in my opinion stock 14" 6 spoke or even 15" turbo are great rims for all around use.....i love both ...

If you're going aftermarket, expect to pay a pretty penny cause most of the domestic manufacturers don't have the correct offset for the Z. You can get rims through an importer, but they range from 500-1000 and they are used, not new. If you get the wheel adapters, you can use any set of rims with a Civic bolt pattern running 38-42mm of offset.

Yup, buy 280zx wheel adaptors for about $200 a set. (four)
Then buy your regular Honda wheels. anything from 16x6 to 18x7 with a 4x100mm bolt pattern. Some adaptor use the 4x100mm, other use 4x114mm.

Then you can put on pretty much any wheel you want. Even 18" spinners! Then you can cut a couple coils off all your springs to lower the car about 2 inches. Black limo tint all the way around, including your windshield and you're like set.

SHIZZLE
...with a plastic chrome chain license plate frame!

Don't forget the bulletproof glass and door panels.

Panasport offers wheels in the ZX offset and bolt pattern, and they're relatively cheap. Check them out at http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merch...egory_Code=WWC

I"ll either be buying a set of Panasport 16x7's in gunmetal, or the 14x7 Konig Rewinds - they'll look sick tight yo!

Either of those are the closest things you can get to RS Watanabe wheels without importing anything from the land of the rising sun ...

Here's the whole wheels section from Motorsport Auto - http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merch...egory_Code=WWC

Enjoy!

Here's a pic of my Z with 17's using the wheel adapters. They allow me to use 4X100 rims.

WOW! Nice 280ZX... the whole car, the wheels... wow.
Those tires look a little undersized.
I'm planning to get 4x100 wheels too some day with the adaptors. $aving, $aving, $aving....

My rims are ADR Fuel Lights, 17x7. "Honduh" rims. I got them on Ebay new for $250 for the set of 4. I used the adapters from Modern Motorsports. The Tires are Kumho Ecsta Supra's 225/45-17. I have a total of $800 in my wheel/tire package.

That is a very nice looking ZX. I think it looks clean without a lot of stuff coming off it. Just a nice clean simple lines. I really think it looks good.

spdsk8r 01-06-2005 02:39 AM

Thanks, that's the look I was going after. An updated stock look. Kind of a "sleeper", as it has a 400 hp 355 small block Chevy.

That is a very clean setup. Nice job.

I want my wheels NOW! ...but I'm still about $1000 short of what I need. :badpc:

280gty 01-07-2005 09:27 AM

Open spoke rims are nice, but I'm reluctant to put them on a Z unless the brakes are upgraded to a larger diameter... otherwise I'd rather hide them.

Bleach 01-07-2005 11:03 AM

Ya, I know what you mean. In fact, did you notice the rear rotors are slightly larger diameter than the front rotors? Strange. But the front calipers are much larger.

At least they're 4-wheel disc. Think about showing off rear drums on a 240Z or 280Z! :D

zeddhedd 01-07-2005 09:10 PM

their both sweet.

FOUND A NICE SET OF OLDER KMC'S (16X8), WITH LIKE NEW 245-50-16, I'LL BE RUNNING 205-50-16 ON THE FRONT. $80 AND A FOUR HOUR ROUND TRIP. SAVING FOR THE SPACERS.
( CHECK OUT GOTDUBS_20 ) ON EBAY, $140 - HUB CENTRIC TO YOUR SPECS!

Dorifto 01-09-2005 05:37 PM

I'm assuming the rear rotors are larger than the fronts because of the parking brake assembly. I've never taken mine apart, but it looks to me like there's a small drum assembly in the center of the rotor for the e-brake. Then if you look at surface area that the brake pads grab, it looks to be slightly smaller than the fronts. That, as well as smaller calipers in back and proportioning valve, create the 70/30 (or whatever it is) brake balance.

Correct? Yes / no?

Anywho - does anyone have pics of a Z running on gunmetal Konig Rewinds? I'm seriously looking into these rims, but I'm curious as to what they look like on the car. Thanks in advance.
