rack and pinion

has anyone installed a rack and pinion on a 280 zx 1983 turbo? Does the engine need to be lifted ? or does the cross member need to be taken off?any easier way. :rolleyes:

Um....are you replacing it or are you trying to install one? The reason I ask is that it should already r&p.

But...no I haven't done it myself.

I am replacing one the one on the car is leaking all the fluid out.

yOU HAVE TO DO BOTH, SUPPORT THE ENGINE WITH A JACK AND TAKE OFF THE CROSS MEMBER. A TIME CONSUMING PROCEDURE IF YOU ARE A APRENTICE MECHANIC.
