New brake pads for 1982 280zxt

Which pads do you guys recommend? Oreilly's has a set with a wear sensor for the rear. Nobody else says that. The Z specialty stores charge twice as much for their pads. Is it worth it? I don't autocross, just normal everyday driving. Thanks.

OEM pads are priced beyond what they actually do. You want a quiet set of pads correctly installed. You can do that with the advice of a good parts store - and their warranty. Labor isn't that much of the process. Get new clips/springs/other parts as they are needed or come with the pad set you buy. And a tube of that non-squeal grease. It can make a diff. A real brake pro doing the removal, cleaning, inspection and replacement work can make a diff too.

If you are 'hard' on your brakes and tend to slam-on from 60 mph a lot - tell your parts guy that and get a set that doesn't cook up hard so fast. If you are easy on them, a basic set of pads should be fine. Anyway, the store warranty means something. If the pads aren't right, you get credit for another set.

While you have the wheel off and you're in there, check your rotors/drums (?) for wear. It's a big deal when it comes to good braking. If they're worn and can't be 'turned' back to good, replace them. Nothing quite as good as Z brakes that are done right. That car was designed for them.

if you can try and get metallic pads or even ceramic. the original ones are organic meaning no extra stuff to help it stop fast and they fad very easily. hawk and porterfield have performance pads if you really want to stop quickly

I bought these Wagner pads off ebay for $18. They were twice as much at the parts stores. I'll put them on the rear. They are non metallic. I'll buy metallic for the fronts. Thanks for the input. Wagner PD272 Disc Brake Pad Rear | eBay
