What is the name of this trim part?
2 Attachment(s)
Hi, I'm new to the Z car, just bought a 1983 280zx 2+2 and am beginning the restoration (restoration to be a nice looking, fun, reliable car, not to try to get to mint or factory showroom condition).
My Z has a trim part in the trunk / hatch area with a hole / tear. The trim pieces is roughly near / under where the bottom end of the hatch "strut" (i.e., the two struts on either side of hatch that hold the hatch up) goes down to the car. The piece has a sort of square top with a circular molding at the top, and it curves away from the square area front and back. I've attached two pictures from a gentleman selling some of these parts on one of the Z forums (attached pics are not my part, they are his; I'm not claiming credit for the photos or his parts!) Do you know the name of this part? Bigger question: Is there a book, publication, magazine article, factory manual, etc. that names each of the interior / exterior trim pieces? Thanks! |
Book or Manual Naming Trim Parts?
Hi, is there an online or available from Amazon, etc., a book, magazine, manual, article, etc. that identifies the names of various interior and/or exterior trim parts and other pieces for the 280zx cars?
I'm new to the car and new to restoring a car. We bought ours because I loved the car growing up, and finally had an opportunity to get a good one to work on with my kids! We're excited, but once I start trying to identify and locate what I need to replace, repair, etc., I find that I do not know what a lot of the trim pieces or related pieces are called. For example, I don't know if there is an industry standard term for all of the pieces or if there are Datsun / Nissan or 280ZX specific terms. Whichever it is, where do I look to get a reference for these? Thanks for any help. |

Order the Black Dragon catalogue, there usually real good about having full labeled listings of all sorts of stuff like that.
http://www.blackdragonauto.com/ there really isnt a need to use industry terms tho, your best bet of finding interior pats for the 2+2 ZX esp is going to be from parts cars, online classifieds, and the junk yard |

Thanks!
