Starting massive body work project.
Its cold as F%$K! Snow is on its way so starts my annual winter project. Now got 3 main issues.
First the Passenger side strut tower has a golf ball size hole, plus the common spare tire area rot. Should I remove the fuel tank and cap the lines before welding this area? Im almost certain I should but ill ask first.
Second I have rot from under the computer to the sub frame connector behind the seat. Should I unbolt the rear subframe? Or can I just pull the bolts weld down 16 gauge and re-drill the bolt pattern under the car?
Third I have the rot from the lower firewall to the foor pan. This is so common but any Ideas on how to remove the Insulation from the dash "black padding" so I wont set fire to the car/barn? WILL NOT REMOVE THE DASH lol If I must ill bring it to a body shop for that.
I had a traumatic experience with my 1990 Ford Probe Beautiful white/red interior. 3.0 V6 5-speed sun roof. Had a hole under the Fuse box area of the floor. Did not know at the time that Fire wall insulation was that flammable!!! One lil spark and she burnt to the ground. Makes one wonder why its termed fire wall. OH BTW my advise for newbie welders Always weld with a "Fire chief" Buy a case and have a buddy sit n drink with a garden hose close-by.
Would save you the embarrassment of neighbors, Police , Firemen, Ambulance drivers , your father, co-workers, and local newspaper.

Ouch, that hurts. I will be getting the biggest damn fire extinguisher I can find and keeping it on the back seat while I restore my ZX! The thought of electrical fires gives me the heebies.
