started the sanding process
 

well first off i am new here as you all can see and have recently purchased a 79 280zx 2+2
that being said i purchased this basically to become my future project car
tonight i found out that it will be awhile before i at least get a fresh coat of paint on her. I work at a body shop so basically on my day offs i can work on what ever i want.
First off i drilled the rivets for those ugly moulding on the sides and welded the holes. The further i dove into the car fixin dents and such i found that there are a quite a few of paint coats on this old gal. For some reason 3 of the original color (copper) and the top being an ugly faded goldish color. The last paint layed is the worst. Apparently the "painter" didn't know the meaning of tapeing off. Plus the paint is horrible. Its single stage and by some cheap brand. To top it off there has been some shitty bodywork done.
I have a few choises to choose from.
A. Sand every panel down to factory paint or metal
B. Acid bath panels that are removable
C. Sand blast

Looks like my new project has become a longer one

Welcome. Unfortunately, you're discovering how some of these cars have been abused over the years.

If it were my car and I had the time and/or money, I would strip it down to a rolling chassis, have the body and all removable panels media blasted to remove all the old paint, body work and rust and then start painting all the parts with a nice new coat of primer and a 2 stage color of my choice.

I Agree, Unfourtunatly It Costs, I Ended Up Striping My Entire Car With A Chemical Stripper Called Tal Strip 2, It Worked But Wash It Down With Gun Wash When Done Stripping. Then Sand With An Orbital, And For Corrsion Protection Use A 2 Part Expoxy Primer, Then High Build. My Car Looks As Good Under As It Does Up Top.
