Seat Preference in a T-Top ZX

Which to you prefer in a 79-83 ZX with T-Tops?

High Back Buckets (like the 70-78 ones)

or

Low Back with Adjustable Headrests

also, state your preference of materials, leather or velour and why.

My '81 ZX (w/ T-tops) came stock with highback seats, though most ZX's seem to have the lower adjustable type. I like the way they look better than the lower ones. Mine are velour, and I like that better since they don't get super hot during the summer. All the same though, I'm looking to get some racing seats that hold onto me a little better.

I have the leather lowback seats with a headrest. I hate them with a passion!

The leather is hard and cracked, not soft at all. I put on sheep skin seat covers to add some cusion. The head rests don't go up high enough to support my head and at any level the stop inside the seat is weak so if you lean on the rest just a little it drops down.

I never did like leather. Its not as soft or durable. I would like some high back cloth seats with more side support.

dont even use the stock seats... they have no support and the material they use is crap.. do what i did.. just got a pair of recarros or any sport seats.. my recarros are vinyl to match my door panels and when your stiin in them.. they hold you in perfectly.. you wont be slipping and sliding every time you make a sharp turn.. and they look great too when the T tops are off..:D
go check out my pic of my seats in the threard "seats"

Ice, did you recover the recarros yourself or did you paint them? I want to get sport seats, but they all are basically black, and my interior is blue/silver, so if it's possible to color them myself, then I'm all set. They look awsome, btw!

thanks!! i had them recovered... the old material was in pretty bad shape so i got to pick out the color i wanted...i went with a really soft vinyel.. it has the same feel of really fine leather but less then the price of real leather. it cost me around $150 a seat.. that isnt bad concidering the seats are worth around $500 each if they were brand new and i got them for $100 a pair from a friend of mine... you can go to a local junk yard to find yourself some seats that look pretty much the same.. its just a matter of having the brackets made to fit your car.. once you get them in your car youll be very happy you did all that work to get them in.. itll make driving your Z fun again!!!
