right side door wont open

Can anyone help me fix my right side door handle. Ok here's the problem somehow my door handle won't open on the right side, the little plastic rivet on the long metal rod part that pulls the coil to open the latch has broken, considering the previouse owner had the car outside i guess it finally gave out due to the sun eating away at it, anyways anyone know how to fix this without spliting apart the door where the metal parts are welded together?

you dont have to split the door open....you have to take the door panel off so you can see the inside....im not dure if you have to roll the window up so you can get to the plastic rivet...ive done this before with everything in the door might be hard to see, i felt my way around and fixed it ...take a look inside the door and see where everything is.

yeah i know i did take off the panel but how do you replace the plastic rivet without removing/spliting apart the door the plastic rivet is broken as i said due to the fact that the sun ate away at it.

If it is plastic I would suggest just getting a new rivet and break the plastic out. The pieces should eventually fall out of the bottom of the door. When i took all the parts out of my 79ZX doors I did not have any issues replacing them. Unfortunatly I did that 2 years ago and dont rmember everything.

Good Luck.

ok so i dont think i got you here

the piece broke and fell in the door? and you wanna get it out?
vaccum it out??
or

you think you will have to split the door open to put the rivet in??

No No No you're going by what 280zx4me said i said it's cracked and i cannot get to it without removing/ spliting the door so i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I tried to pry it out by lifting the window but that does not work the whole rod has to be removed due to the fact that the plastic rivet is broken in half.

Skully and I believe that it is possible to remove, replace, or fix the entire handle and lock mechanisms inside the door without breaking the welds. It is hard to reach around in there due to the metal cross pieces.

Can you zip tie the two ends together that used to be held together by the clip?
(can you post a pic of what you're looking at?)

Also, I'm wondering how this part inside the door was sun damaged if it was inside the door. Unless I'm misunderstanding.

Cause he had the door removed from the car due to the fact that it was dented and he repaired it but never got to installing it, so he got to lazy and gave up on the Z project so the panel was eaten away and so was some of the plastic pieces inside of the door. Some people just don't have respect for these beautiful cars. =*0( anyways yeah i'll be sure to take pictures so that i can show you guys what i am looking at =0).

A friend of mine had a Z that was hit in the driver's door. After he pulled the dent out we never could get the inside or outside handle to open up the door.
