I've seen a couple questions about the radio in the Z's but I am still lost...

Is their a bolt in kit that would allow me to put in a aftermarket deck and black out the rest? I have seen them but I don't know where to get it. Is their a cheaper option than MSA? What exactly do I need from MSA if I decide to go that route? Does this work: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/RF/50-3301 if so what does it mount to?

Where is the best place to get a dash cap? If anybody has gotten one how did it look installed? My dash is cracked to hell...

Lastly, what is this part called the horribly beat up plastic around the gear shift boot:

^ I actually made a custom mount, with the original brackets. That the factory stereo housing came with. I just got the faceplate mount for $10. It is just a black plastic. Painted it blue, and mounted everything back up. After I fabricated the stock brackets. I also had to drill a couple of holes in the stereo console itself. Works great. Here is a pic of that setup.


As for the part you are asking about. That is the shifter coin plate. And actually right now. There are a few on ebay. Here is a link to that.

Anyway that is the cheapest one I saw. It is a good deal. Then if you want to change the color. I recommend dupli color vinyl paint. Works great, and it what you mainly see in my interior. Hope that helped, and good luck.

Thank you, appreciate it. As for the shifter coin box plate. I agree that yours is crappy. lol That is why I guided you to OEM auction one. That one is better than the after market one I have. This one has holes to bolt it back on. Mine didn't come with all that. Anyway good luck on getting that. And glad to help.

From a 79 280zx w/ the 120 (really 130mph) speedo.

did they come in 81's as well cause there is one here in a junkyard that has one i found a coulpe of days ago

 

the 130 speeds and analog clocks only came in the 79 but its common to grab em for other ZX's since the stocker only goes to 85
