How do i remove the "stereo control switch"?

I am trying to remove the switch on the right side of the ash tray that controls the stereo. I want to remove that switch and put my cigarette lighter on that side, and in place of the cig light I would like to put in something else.

I want to find a way so that i dont break the bezel itself.

Thanks

you have to pull out that whole center console that holds the radio in place then remove that switch from the back. You need to remove the driver and passenger side lower dash panels, there's two little trim panels on the side of that main console then I think 4 bolts on each side. Once that's loose you can slide it forward then you just need to disconnect some wires so you can slide it out further.

Thanks for the reply.. I have already taken out the cigarette lighter from the left side and change it to the right side (in place of the stereo control).

I have hooked everything up and noticed that my lighter wasn't working.

I completely forgot to hook it up. When I took everything apart again, I couldnt find a way to hook it back up. It seemed as though all the wires that were not hooked up wasn't powering the lighter.

Can someone please post a picture of the wires in the back of your lighter? I may have left out a plug or something and cant seem to find it.

My Haynes manual does not have a picures of how the cigarette lighter should look. I looked at the wiring diagram and it shows 3 wires/plugs coming out but on my cigarette lighter i can only find one...

All help would be appreciated

if i remember correctly..... there are 2 wires, one on the center back, and one on the side back. if those are connected, check your fuse.
