My Z is a gold '79 with the gold Z rims. Its the GL model. I was wondering what color emblems came with this model, all of mine are gone.

 

I'm going to go out on a limb and say ... gold. At least that's how my brother's GL came ...

 

I'm pretty sure that everything before either '82 or '83 had silver. Now mine has a wierd combination. Gold on the hood and fenders but silver on the hatch.

 

I'm thinking that only the 1980 OFFICIAL 10th Anniv edition came with gold emblems. I know many other 79-81 cars were gold or even black/gold combos but only the ones with the 10th anniv edition logos had the gold emblems.

 

what do you guys think about shaving the emblems?

I think it looks good. I plan to shave all the emblems on my car for the next paint job.

 

That's the only one. I gotta have a "Z" on there somewhere.

 

I got a "Z" on the center console in front of the shifter. Good enough for me.

You should put a "350Z" emblem on there somewhere. Maybe inside if you want it clean on the outside.

 

I was thinking of having a friend make some "570ZX" emblems for me.
280ZX=2.8 litre
570ZX=5.7 litre

 

I have a 10 th A.E. Gold/Black and it had Gold ones. So from what I know all others should haved Silver ones.

I have a single round "Z" logo and was planning to put it on the rear hatch and leave the hood clean. But I'm worried about getting it stolen, so the dash or center console are possibilities too.

 

spdsk8r, you should use a 350Z badge or something, and have your friend modify it to say "355ZX" or something to that tune. After all, you spooned a 355 in there, right?

 

all my emblems have been removed and the only one i have now is the chrome one that was originaly on the hatch ( "Datsun by Nisan 280ZX" ) but moved to the intirior just above the glovebox, looks great. almost like it could have come from factory like that
