'80 2+2 vs. '83 NA
My deal on a 79 engine was not as advertised, so i kicked it to the curb.
I found a 2+2 1980 model with a good engine.
Will this swap over to my '83 without trouble?
Besides interior panels, body panels, drive shaft " the obvious things", will most other stuff swap over? I am thinking stuff like engine, speedos, dash itself, transmission etc? Anyone with experience please help. I do not want to buy a car and mainly engine and tranny not swap.
Thanks

The whole front part of the 2 + 2 will swap right over. After the doors, things are different. I do believe the driveshaft could be a little longer, but not for sure. But the whole engine bay, front part of the interior, minus T-tops, door panels, will swap right over. As for swapping the engine, Just take the parts off your '83 engine, and put them on the other one. Good luck.

Also wanted to note. You will lose power with the '80 engine. It had dished pistons. They started making the flat tops in '81 which increased horsepower. That was in the n/a's of course. All the turbo cars had dished, because of boost increasing the compression ratio.

The engine is a remanufactured Jasper, a friend has, so wouldn't the power be higher than the original motor? Seems like that would have been upgraded in the remanufacture.
