280zx to 350z Dash swap, Thought???

I have two projects ('78z and a '82zx) and with the 280zx I picked up for $600 at an impound yard, I am considering trying to install a 350z dashboard assembly, center console, and 350z seats. If your asking why the dash and center console, its because the original dash literally falls part when you touch it, finding a replacement just costs too much, I think the 350z dashboard is sweet (car's OK), and I just want to do something different. If your wondering, I'm keeping my '78 z stock for now.

Right now I'm pulling out the old interior, working on the body, and researching everything I can about the 350z dash to see if this can be done. I would really appreciate any feedback, discussion, links, etc... to help me get ready to do this. Anybody else ever try this??? I think I saw a link of it done on a 280z, but could not find anything on a 280zx.

Once I get past the planning and prep work for this project, I'll start posting pictures to document my progress(or total failure). Either way, it should be fun.

Thanks https://www.zdriver.com/forums/image...s-chainsaw.gif

Iv seen the 240sx and Z32 dash swaps but not a 350z yet, measure the dimensions on your ZX dash and then go find a 350 to measure

if wont look right, without the door panels from the z33 as well, your also going to have to narrow the dash by about 5 or so inches, then find a way to use z33 gauges on the l28, adapt the z33 steering column, z33 pedals, and a new radio harness, as well as figure out the shifter.

Not sure about the z33 door panels, they are somewhat goofy in my opinion. The s130 panels may be best if recovered to match the dash. I'll probably have them custom made after I get the dash in and see how it looks. I'm collecting all the dash/console parts right now and getting the car ready for modification (deconstruction). I looked for the dash as a unit, but I'm trying the save as much on the parts as possible right now so I'll have the funds later to help me with the modifications. I have a friend in the salvage biz helping search.

I saw the picts of this done in the s30 as well. It was inspiring.

I was thinking of making it a convertable too. Of course that would be a lot later. Then again, maybe not.

the S30 dash is 3 inches shorter. so you'l have to split it and center when puttin in. I can't post any pics right now. my locatiuon prohibits it.
