Thanks, I would like to have an apprentice to pass on my 47 years of experience but the commute would be a bitch. :082:
You're smart to realize you need practical experience to go with your education. Our young engineers can't run anything but a PC. They can't get the concept of fit, form and function. They can design a $2000 water pump but Pep Boys sells them for $50. I'm going to set up the mill on the plenum hopefully this week. Got to leave town this weekend so more delays. I think I will just stay after work and get it done. |
I think you are worthy of it, grasshopper. Bring your Z too. I started my apprenticeship when I was 19.
|
ok if you're being serious, could you PM me stuff about your shop and any kind of official paperwork i could take a look at about the intern/apprentice position? That'd be pretty kewl. I have to get my Z working first haha Have you heard anything about "webcamshafts". I was going to get my stock one reground where it would give me a little boost in power without having to change entire valvetrain. Just had to add lash pads.

let's use PM on this, don't want to clog the thread.

Made a little progress last week on the manifold. I got a super damper to modify since there doesn't seem to be one for the VH. Have to bore it out and press on a seal sleeve. Bought a 750 ft lb impact to get the damper bolt loose.

Almost ready for welding. Blended the lower runners to the flanges. Made a weld fixture.

it all lined up good, really good. Now off to my friends at MadDog Racing for the welding this weekend!

Maybe I'll get the manifold done THIS weekend but for now I got the fuel rails ready.

Got the manifold finish welded by the best damn welder on the planet. Finished the damper. Going to send out the cam covers for polishing. Next I'll start the motor mounts.
Can't seem to upload pics just now, wtf. |

The damper is to short and it will hit the timing cover so I made a spacer by cutting off (in the lathe) a piece of the oem damper. Then I counterbored the new damper to get the 3/4" thread depth I wanted. Lengths are good now. I kept a little of the hub so I can bolt on a pulley or driver hub for my remote accessories.

VH45 swap

Nice build up! I am pretty sure someone out there makes an adapter plate for the z32 trans on the vh45, but if you are wanting to do it all yourself more power to you. I have finally made the decision to go this route myself, except maybe an Eaton supercharger mounted on top. I read an article somewhere the the m90 matches up perfectly with the vh45. You just cant beat the vh45 for the price and keeping it Nissan at the same time. Anyways great job, Ill be watching this for sure!

Q45 throttle body
2 Attachment(s)
I cant see spending $400 on a throttle body so I modified the Q45 TB. The tps stuck out to far and interfered with the water neck. I took it to work and shortened the shaft and boss. Then I milled off all the unnessary stuff. The Q45 TB has ball bearings ans seals so I can boost it.

BEAUTIFUL!!!! how long til it starts?

Sometime last summer lol

Been very busy at work but managed to get this done for the remote filter. A test fit and then weld the fittings on.

Made a little progress. Got the oil block welded up, I didn't like the old bolts so I counterbored it for stainless screws. Got a remote oil filter and a blow by oil can. Polished the fuel rails. Got a valve cover gasket set so I can pull those to get them polished or powder coated. Got the stainlessscrews and acorn nut kit for the valve covers.

im 200% jealous of your financial situation and your ability to have time to do this.......
