Ah, I've seen those. It's the fad of late 70s and early 80s, when the gas crisis hit, and car makers had to sell cars but couldn't boast about power, so they went with stickers and visual appeal.
I don't think there's any specific production numbers to the ZAP edition, it's just a dealer installed graphics package. So if you can get your car painted yellow, and find someone who reproduces the decal kit, you should be good to go.

Yes! It looks very nice!
I don't think its a Zap edition. The paint wouldn't be so bright and brilliant for a late 70's paint job even if it was garaged. Looks like a modified car with a fairly recent re-paint. Nice though!
I don't think any of the 280Zs had the G-nose from the factory so yours was just added and repainted by a previous owner...

I'll do some more research and let you know. The factory did release the G-Nose. It originated from the factory, so did the fender flares and headlight covers. I have a Datsun restoration and history book that went over that topic. G-Nose added 5mph to the top speed!

So another question is, are all yellow 280Zs from 1977-78 a Zap car? or did a dealer just put stickers on a random yellow car to add that package for a new buyer? If so, then there may be no way to identify the history of your car by just the VIN. As for the 280ZXR, they had a decal package, but for them the VIN numbers were recorded for each one produced so you can go back and look them up.

I've determined that my 1977 280z is indeed a Zzzap. The vinyls were just taken off and given a G-Nose. I checked the paint code thats on the radiator support and the code was 411, which I did my research and it stood for the Sunburst Yellow, available only on the Zzzap!! So now, what I'm getting at is, by restoring the original style vinyl will that increase desirability for the car? Where can I find the Vinyl?
