What to look for when buying a 280Z 2+2

Hi all. I'm brand new. I don't currently own a Z, but I have always admired them and thought they were cool looking cars. I drove by one that was for sale, so I stopped to look at it and got the number to call. It's been repainted, but other than that, it looks to be bone stock. 33k on the clock, so I'm guessing based on the overall condition of the car, it's 133k. The body is straight and paint looks well done. I didn't see any rust or corrosion. Exterior chrome and rubber look pretty good. I really didn't see any glaring defects on the exterior. The interior is intact, but it's sun faded and the left bolster seam on the driver's seat is ripped about 8 or 10 inches. In any event, replacing the upholstery is imminent. It's a manual transmission, but I don't know if it's 4 or 5 speed. I called the guy and he's a mechanic that "acquired" the car from the previous owner who was family of the original owner. He said it's been in Phoenix, AZ it's entire life. I didn't pop the hood so I don't know what's going on there, but based on the rest of the car, I'm guessing it's all original. My plan would be to keep it all stock and just restore whatever would be needed to accomplish that. So before I make an impulse decision I'll regret, what should I look for with this car? Reading between the NADA lines, it seems they are ballparking the value at $10k-$15k.

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

You will need to get the car up on a lift to look for rust damage to the frame and under body. Look for poor patch panels. Crushed front frame rails are also common from improper lifting. Rust is a project killer. Find something with little or no rust. A running car is also a good thing!
