What is this on the Fuel Tank?? :(
 

Hey everyone... sorry I have not introduced myself. Im new here... which is kinda weird. I have owned 5 Zs and have never visited this forum... I know shame on me. Well Right now I own a 2010 370z and a 1971 240z.

Back on topic... I just bought this bad boy about 3 days ago. I think it was a good find in an auction. Picked her up for $3000. Yesterday I took her out to get some gas... when I got back home my cousin and I smelled like gas fumes so much that almost made me pewk. That being said I looked everywhere to see if it was leaking gas or something. Found it dripping right under the gas tank. There was this small nipple looking thing on the left side of the gas tank. I have read it is a Gas Vape line. Now it looked like someone tried to plug it up with a rubber hose and burning the end of the hose. Thinking it would cover it, Wrong. It was dripping all over my driveway and so I jacked up the car on to one side and that stopped the dripping.

Now my question is... should I plug it? Or does it need to be plugged onto something?

At one time that was a vent hose. See page FE-4 of the 72 FSM.
