Ok on my 77 280z there is a switch under the gas pedal.. Does anybody know what it is for???

Only think I can think of is if you have an automatic transmission, or if the car used to and a previous owner did a manual conversion, that maybe it's the old kickdown / downshift switch? I'm not sure, as I've only ever owned manual 280's, but it's all I could think of.

that makes sense now that I think about it it is an auto and if my floor mat gets in the way it doesnt shift down right
