Turbo ?

Does anybody AutoX with turbos? I find it hard to control the downshifts out of the corner. I have spun out a few times from to much boost. I drive NA now and enjoy it much better.:)

I haven't done any autoX, but have heard that there are aftermarket boost controllers which can help the way in which the boost comes on and when. I'm not sure who makes them or how much they cost, but probably HKS, GReddy, A'pex, etc. could help. I'm also not sure how much fabrication is required to install or how difficult they are to use. If professional roadracers throughout the world can use something like this, then I'm sure that there has to be something out there to help!

I'll be autoxing my 1977 turbo 280Z here in a few weeks. I'm interested to see how it'll work out on an autox course. Its has an L28ET with a T3/T4 setup and light weight flywheel. I'm impressed so far with how fast it spools up. Here's a link to some boost controllers that are easy to make. http://www.fwdmopar.com/sites/dennis...trolbible.html There's even diagrams on how to make dual stage controllers on your own. I'm gonna make my own here in a few weeks.

i just did

i have a 76 turbo 280z.. I just autoX last weekend with it. I am used to doing it on a race track, first time i have done it in a parking lot.. First off, dont get greedy in the corners  I did that on my first run of the day, around this sweeping corner.... needless to say i had alot of counter steering to do. i found it best to stay in the high rpms on the smaller track. Also through the slalom, I kept a steady thorottle though it. Exiting the corners I laid on the gas.. there were a few times It let loose, but not bad. Basically know when your turbo is going to spool up.

Bumblebee,
How well prepared is your 280? Mine has the Tokico illuminas, 1 1/8" and 7/8" sway bars, suspension tech springs, quick steering knuckles, bumpsteer spacers, welded 3.90 diff, energy suspension bushings, T3/T4 with intercooler, and will be running 16X8 centerlines with 245/45 16 hoosier autocrossers up front and 16X8 centerlines with 275/45 16 Hoosier autocrossers in the rear. It should stick pretty good. I'm pretty sure that I'll be tuning out some understeer in the sweepers, but will have gobs of throttle oversteer at will. Guess I'll find out in a couple weeks :D
