trouble replacing ball joints on a 240z
you probably think i am kinda stupid for asking this but i have never done this kind of work and its giving me a lot of headache when the haynes manual is not very helpful so could someone please walk me through this
thanks Mike |
you might want to start by telling us what you're having problems with.
To remove the balljoint, unbolt the trailing arm (2 14mm bolts) and 2 support bolts holding the balljoing in to the control arm unbolt 2 bolts holding the steering knuckle to the strut. separate strut and steering knuckle remove cotter pin from balljoint nut, unbolt nut, and use a pickle fork or a clamp to separate the balljoint from the steering knuckle. |
thank you i needed that i am having problems with the pickle fork part the actual reason y i am doing this is becouse i am replacing the struts and shocks which i forgot to mention earlier and i didn't know that i have to disconnect the steering knuckle first again thanx for the info

little known trick if you're removing the tie rods - the driver's side tie rod is reverse threaded. you'll have to tighten it to loosen it
