Re: Triple SUs
I'm also interested in this setup, as it seems to be a step up from the stock SU's without going to the exspensive of triple webers, I can't answer your question though, sorry

Re: Triple SUs
The amount of effort required to set this up for a daily-driver would be just too prohibitive.
Putting triples (Mikuni Solex/Weber) on a street engine is not really a wise idea either. It will cost you ~$2000AUD for the 3 carbs & a manifold, then there are jets, emulsion tubes, venturies, linkages plus there's the tuning... A set of well tuned round-top SU's will give you much better driveability on a street car. I've recently sold a set of my round tops for a local guy who has removed the triples from his 260Z due to the difficulties & expenses of getting them tuned properly & the cost of fuel. He now has a simpler setup that produces just as much power as the 40DCOE's that he had. |
Re: Triple SUs
I actually got a response from some guys earlier that knew of this type of set-up and told me the flow characteristics of the SU's are not well suited for this app. Also the manifold is another bear to get flowing properly. I am going to abandon this one personally and go for as much of a stroker I can afford. If you do it tell us your story. I would like to try, but Mama is only going to allow me two engines. :-(
