trany identity crisis!
a previous owner installed a 5speed trany in my 72" 240Z
the problem is that I would like to know what trany I have! Were on the trany do I find the ID plate (or stampings)?
the only marking I have been able to find is on the top of the bell housing, up against the engine that reads 78-16994.
Any Clues???

Re: trany identity crisis!
I finaly got it all sorted out!
It's got A factory 5speed from a 78' 280, and.....a R200 diff With 4.11's
The 4.11's caused my confusion I did'nt realize that R200's had 4.11 ratios!
not that i'm going to complain, it makes my plans for modification a LOT easier seeing that someone else started it for me. as if that was'nt enough they also installed eibach springs, and sport struts. Needless to say I'm pretty happy with my new toy.
Now It's time to get some serious boost under the hood.
