About to buy 1972 240z need advice

Hello guys I'm new to the form and would like a little advice. I am about to pull the trigger on a 1973 240z. It's an original owner car with 50,000 miles and all original doc including the window sticker. The only concern I have is there is extensive rust in the floorpans/doors and the car has been sitting for almost 20 years. The car appears to be all original and 95% complete. My ultimate goal is to restore the car, so my question is given the condition and history do you think this car would be worth restoring or even buying. Im only paying 1500 for the car so worst-case scenario I think I should be able to get my money back in parts. Thanks for any help

Welcome to ZDriver!
It's definitely worth $1500... but is it worth restoring? Only if you are ok with sinking $20k-$30k into it and never get that all back.

Dealing with these cars is a labor of love, Its not a financial investment.
If you have your hart set on restoring it....go for it.
If you want to part it out...you might get some of your money back if not more, BUT it will take years..meanwhile you need to park it somewhere to take it apart and room to store the parts, advertise, manage inventory shipping ect. its not for everybody
$1500 is not a bad deal for the right person, depends how much rust is there And /or if you NEED the parts.

Do you really mean 'restore' or just fix it up a bit?

Clean it, polish the paint, get it running, buy new tires. You can either fix the floors yourself if you can weld or just have that part done by someone else.
