Tranny info needed!

Ok guys, I have a question I need answered. I am helping my Brother on his 260Z, right now we have a 280ZX B/W T-5 in it. The tranny got destroyed in a competetive altercation one evening Now the question is: We have a 85 300ZX B/W T-5, I know the bell housing and input shafts are different. What I want to know is, has anyone seen or has done this themselves. Can you simply swap the input shaft out and of course the bellhousing? Are the bearing sizes the same? I have downloaded a breakdown of the T-5 and from what I can tell all you have to remove is the input shaft without disassembling the rest of the tranny. Is this correct? Please advise, Thanks Josh

i doubt it, the input shafts if i remember sit inside a full gear stack if you know what i mean. i dont thinkthey are something you can just swap. try the 240SX tranny swap or just get another B/W, whats done to the 260 if he blew a B/W? lol. also what is destroyed? it might just be a bearing or something... that or maybe he broke or bent a shifter fork something simple

1st and 2nd gear grind BAD! There is no 3rd or 4th anymore shifter has no resistance, I think 5th works 240SX swap is a thought but we already have the B/W.
Looking at the break down the input shaft pulls straight out of the front. found here http://www.cosworth.hu/content/haszn...arner%20t5.pdf
thanks Josh

There is or was a guy on eBay selling syncros for both the WC and the NWC version of the T5. He is very knowledgable about them. The WC will bolt on the bell housing you have but the input spline may be different. If the length of the shaft and the pilot diameter is the same I think you only need to use a clutch disc for the '85. The ds yoke might be different also. The change from NWC to WC ocurred in the mid '80s so it's hard to tell unless you have them side by side. I also doubt if you can or should swap the shafts.
