Spacers make no difference in the ride. Think of it as if you are simply moving ther web of the wheel out -- everything else stays the same. Mine are the same diameter and the tires are sitting at the same width.
I am running 17x7 Tenzo-R wheels and Toyo 215/45/17 tires

GerryG is right, it doesn't effect the ride. It may even make it better. It makes the rim go out more so your handling maybe slightly better.
BTW I have 18" in my 240z
