Smog stuff

Got a 70 z that has Webers--puting the SU's on with a Euro balance tube. Car has headers and a smog pump that isn't hooked up to any thing at this time. Question is its going to be smogless-but does anybode know just what all did the 70's (#4268 manufactured 5/70) have in the first place? Pictures show a maze of hoses and going to be puttting on the oiginal air cleaner without the sumer/winter door etc--so I'd really like to know a definitive place to get that info so everything works when it gets retro rerofited.
thanks

Here's a pic I dug up of #4884 before I took all that stuff off. Hope this helps.

You say you are going to use the "Euro" balance tube. Actually, there is nothing "Euro" about it, but no matter; the vast majority of the stuff you see in the photo will be gone. The balance tube for HLS30s has casting mounts and fittings for all that stuff and the HS30 and S30 balance tube has none of it. Back to the balance tube in a minute.

The smog pump delivers air to the exhaust mainfold via a metal tube manifold screwed into the exhaust manifold casting. You will need to detach the air manifold and plug or weld up the holes in the exhaust manifold, but since you already have headers this can all be disregarded. This is where a header application would be justified, though.

There are two machined openings in the balance tube for the brake vac line. It can go to the back of the balance tube as it was on the early cars, or off the top of the tube - later cars ('72). The throttle linkage attaches the same for both balance tubes.

Have fun. It's a nice set-up.
