Shifter
My shifter is loose and flimsey. I know that you can get new bushings to tighten everything up, but I don't know what they are called. Anyone know what they are called and can I get them from MSA? Thanks as always for the help.

Re: Shifter
I have the same problem on my 260Z. The shifter feels loose, even when a gear is engaged. Is it a big job to change the bushing you refer to?

Re: Shifter
It is not a big job to change it. It takes a half an hour if you know what you are doing. I just don't know the name of the bushing I need to fix it.
Also: Does anyone have any recomendation as far as headers go? My Monza has a leak and I am thinking I may just replace it. Are MSA headers good/better than Monza? Thanks |
Re: Shifter
IF YOU HAVE THE EARLY SHIFTER YOU NEED TWO OF THIS NISSAN NUMBER 32853-22000
IF YOU HAVE THE LATER SHIFTER (MORE COMMON) YOU NEED THIS NUMBER 32855-H1010 THE GO IN THE SIDE OF THE SHIFTER ONEFSTZ |

Are the above parts for all 240-280's? Is there a diagram or what repair manual do you recommend? Thanks, I'm going to be asking a lot of questions. Never worked on a Z before.....:100: |
Yes, for many Zs. Here's the link to MSA: Motorsport! Bushing, Shifter Pin, 72-81 Z/ZX N/T M/T - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts
Read the page carefully, there may be more things you want to replace and the discussion on the page covers them. |
Here's an alternative. I did it on my 260Z.
