In search of HP...

I really like z's but my love is in 510's. So by putting a 280zxTurbo engine in my dime I get the best of both worlds. Anyways, I need to know what I need to do to get max horse out of my engine as well as strength throughout tranny and rear end. Money is not a huge problem at the moment so what would be best case scenario. I will enventually plum nitrous but right now I need strength and power. What can I do? The car will be mainly street and strip.Thanks...

Re: In search of HP...

well if your going with a 2.8 turbo, first you can upgrade the turbo, i/c, straight threw exhaust with 3 inch piping, bigger injectors, dialaboost, adjustable pop off valve, k&n intake, use the 83 turbo 5 speed,(borg warner T5:o), a 3.90 R200 rear, throttle body uprgrade from a 240SX, lightened fly wheel, centerforce clutch, the list just goes on and on. but try this for starters

watch out here comes my Z V8 powered and ready to roar

At the moment I have a stock skyline intercooler, dual-friction clutch and clutch plate from Nismo, as well as the 83 5 speed. I think I am on the right track but still needs a lot of help.

Re: In search of HP...

If you want pure acceleration go for the 4.11 gear out of 85-86 200sx turbo's. Or you can opt for the 3.70 LSD out of a 300zx for a balance of acceleration and top end.
...just my 2 cents

Re: In search of HP...

Rusty, hate to break it to you, but we didn't get the LSD R200 on the 200SX turbo here =(

But Ashley, if you can, go for the 3.9 R200. The 3.7 LSD is only in the 88-89 300ZX turbos and not only are super rare, but cost a lot more than they're worth! I've been looking for one for ages to no avail ( besides I"m in school and broke)

Good luck with the car, keep us posted!

Oh, and when are you going to join the club? I haven't even met you yet! ;)
