Rim Width
I'm looking at a couple of sets of slotted mags for a '71. I'm looking to jeep a fairly stock look, with 195 tires. The two wheel sets that I've seen that are the style I want are different widths - one is 5.5" and the other is 7". Any opinions on which set would look best with 195 tires and keep it looking more original?
Should I hold out for a size in between?

Re: Rim Width
Be real careful of the offset on the wheels. You want some that are '0' [IE: the back face of the center of the wheel on the 7" wheels are 3.5" from the back rim edge]. This will locate your tires properly in your wheel wells. Now to tires & wheels:
A 195/70 tire is roughly 7 5/8" wide at the widest part. Just barely wider than the 7" wheel which is probably the widest you would want to run with that tire. An option you would have with the 7" wheel, however, would be to run 215/65's. They have the same rolling diameter as the 195/70's but are 3/4" wider and put more of it on the ground that the higher profile 70's. They also will fit under your wheel wells but will sit at the outside edge giving the car a very attracitve "squared off" appearance from the front & rear.

Thanks for the comments
I ended up going with the 5 1/2" wheels. I'll be running 195/65 tires which I think should keep the speedometer reading pretty accurate.
The larger wheels look nice, but for a daily driver, I think the 195s will be more streetable (especially in parking lots) without power steering.
